Natural Local Products
The best known products of the region are: extra virgin oil – we recommend the brand “Desierto de Tabernas” - or the products from the Almeria western Alpujarra, the wine of Padules in the Andarax Valley, homemade jams and fresh goat cheese.
Horse riding facilities
“Hípica Aguamarga” (a place for horseback riding) is located 100 meters from La Joya de Cabo de Gata. Its owner, Marta Ohm has designed very good facilities that offer horseback riding, excursions through the park, pony rides for kids and riding lessons.

Nature trails in The Park
With Grupo 126, you can explore in 4x4 vehicles restricted areas where a guide can explain the special environmental values and features of the Natural Park of Cabo de Gata. It is also possible to hike and to bike. Visits to “Centro de Interpretación de Visitantes” of San José and Las Amoladeras are also possibilities. The beaches
Some of the best virgin beaches of Spain are found in this Natural Park. They are located within an area designated as a Biosphere Reserve. The small and cosy beach of Aguamarga and also Cala Enmedio and Cala El Plomo, which are accessible on foot through ancient landscapes, are well known examples. It is also worth mentioning the legendary beaches of Los Genoveses and Monsul.

Archaeology
Visits to the archaeological heritage in Almeria
- Los Millares: this mineral deposit considered the largest in Europe corresponding to the Copper Age (2700 to 1800 BC) is located in the municipality of Santa Fe de Mondújar, some 17 km away from the capital of Almeria. Thousands of years ago, a major agricultural culture pioneered the introduction of copper metallurgy in the Western Mediterranean.
